Welcome to Vaxa - Setting Up Your Authentication Methods

Firstly, welcome to Vaxa! We’re so glad to have you as part of our team.

As part of our commitment to security and convenience, we're using advanced authentication methods to help protect your Vaxa accounts, while also making it easier for you to sign in.

This guide will walk you through registering your authentication methods using a Temporary Access Pass (TAP) and setting up passwordless sign-in with Microsoft Authenticator.

What is a Temporary Access Pass (TAP)?

A Temporary Access Pass (TAP) is a special time-limited code that allows you to register your authentication methods from the get go. We use it to bootstrap your account; a TAP is a secure way to get started, especially if you're new to the system or need to re-register your devices.

We also use a TAP if you’re part of our Passwordless program, as you won’t have/won’t know your password, so you need something to get your passwordless devices setup.

<aside> 💬 A TAP is not your password, nor will you use it ever again once your account is setup. Don’t confuse it with2FA/MFA—this is purely just to get your account setup for the first time. You won’t use a TAP after day one.

Step-by-Step Guide to Register Your Authentication Methods

Step 1: Receive Your Temporary Access Pass

You will receive your TAP via email or SMS from the Vaxa IT team.

<aside> ⚠️ TAPs are valid only for a limited time (24 hours at most), so please make sure to complete the registration process promptly.

If you’re unable to complete in time, contact the Vaxa IT team for renewal of your TAP.

Step 3: Register Your Account at aka.ms/mysecurityinfo

  1. Complete this process on your computer, not a phone.
  2. Open an incognito/InPrivate window in your browser. This avoids conflicts with any existing Microsoft accounts in your browser during the setup process.
    1. In Chrome, you can click the three-dots menu in the top-right corner and select New Incognito window, or use the shortcuts Ctrl+Shift+N (on Windows) or ⌘+Shift+N (Mac)
    2. In Edge, you can click the three dots menu > New InPrivate window, use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+N, right-click the Edge icon on the taskbar > New InPrivate window
  3. Visit aka.ms/mysecurityinfo in this new window.
    1. You may need to copy/paste/type in manually to get it to appear in your incognito window.
